Lions and Tigers and Bears OH MY !!!!

So, as I am sure most have heard by now, over the holiday my venue, the SF zoo was the site of a tiger attack.

MSNBC says this:

Hanna said that since zoo tigers are well fed, it is unlikely the animal was looking for food when it got out. "Were they taunting the animal?" he said. "Were they throwing things that were making it angry?"

The first attack happened right outside the tiger's enclosure — the victim died at the scene. Another was about 300 yards away, in front of the zoo cafe. The police chief said the animal was mauling the man, and when officers yelled at it to stop, it turned toward them and they opened fire.

Only then did they see the third victim, police said.

About 20 visitors were in the zoo when the attacks happened about an hour before the 6 p.m. closing time, officials said. Employees and visitors were told to take shelter when zoo officials learned of the attacks, and some employees locked themselves inside buildings as they had been instructed to do if an animal escaped.

This is just AWFUL. Later in the article it talks about how this is the first death from an animal attacking a zoo visitor, and how it's more safe to visit a zoo than to back your car out of the driveway to get to the zoo. The zoo just re opened yesterday after the investigation into the incident.

People are of course asking if this will effect the wedding plans. I just smile and say, we're just going to give out tranquilizer dart favors. I doubt it will effect anything, although in the back of my mind I keep having thoughts of a lawsuit forcing the zoo to stop having after hours events, or not being allowed to have my animal encounters during cocktail hour, (not to worry, only the tiny, cuddly animals are available for this !) or another such freak thing happening a week before my wedding and causing problems.

As I was watching Bridezillas the other night, I saw a couple episodes where brides had to deal with problems with their venue, construction, ownership changes effecting the validity of contracts, etc... have you had any scares, or strange things go on with your venue of choice ?
